Submission Guidelines

Content: All entries submitted to the contest must be in the genre of creative non-fiction. This is neither a short story contest, nor a place for thesis-driven submissions. The Contest will not judge poetry. (Not sure what creative non-fiction is? See Wikipedia’s Guide to Creative Nonfiction.)

Format: All submissions must be under 4000 words, submitted as a Microsoft Word document. Please double-space your submission, using Times New Roman 12, including page numbers and the submission title in your header or footer. Do not include your name or contact information anywhere in the submission—but do include it in the online submission form.

Eligibility: The contest is open to any Carleton student currently in progress toward a degree at the time of the submission deadline.

Number of Submissions: Each contestant may submit only one piece of work.

How to submit: All entries must be submitted via the online form below.

Submission Deadline: Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Midnight.

Awards will be announced in May.
