To explore your interests, skills, and values, and to connect your studies with “real life” experiences, you can go off-campus and explore the world. Besides our Vienna program and other Carleton College off-campus study programs, internships and fellowships are excellent opportunities to enrich your curriculum and prepare you for your future endeavors.

We also have a partnership with the Germanic-American Institute (GAI) in Saint Paul, MN, which is a cultural language and education center with a German Immersion Preschool on site. The GAI provides connections to the German-speaking world in the United States and has a variety of employment options in education, communications, and cultural programming. Their mission is to connect people to a broader world through German language and culture. Each November, for example, Prof. Schicker co-organizes the Twin Cities German Film Festival with the GAI.
