Juliane Schicker just published two new texts: one is the article “Israel-Kritik: Die Infragestellung deutscher Vergangenheitsaufarbeitung” on the online presence of the Diversity, Decolonization, & the German Curriculum (DDGC) Collective. This article addresses the dual historical responsibility of German-speaking populations toward both Jewish and Palestinian people and the catastrophic consequences of ignoring this entanglement in modern discourse. She also translated a statement by the FiGS BDS Working Group, titled “Such a Thing Should Never Have Happened!” into German. This statement is a reaction to an opinion piece in the German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), “Fremde Federn: So kann es nicht weitergehen in Gaza” from April 17, 2025, which circulated widely on social media as well as via German Studies listservs.
