Professors Juliane Schicker and Seth Peabody Awarded Student Research Partnerships for Winter Break

Juliane will work with student research partner Jeremy Fong ’23 on her new project “Representations of Motherhood and Childhood in DEFA films of the 1970s and 1980s.” Jeremy and Juliane will discuss how East German films of the last twenty years of the country’s existence presented mothers and their children and what socio-political myths were perpetuated through these representations.

Seth will work with Esme Krohn ’24 on revisions to his monograph, Film History for the Anthropocene: The Ecological Archive of German Cinema. Esme worked with Seth on an earlier stage of the project, as individual chapters were being written so that the manuscript could be submitted to the publisher, and she will now collaborate with Seth on final revisions in response to peer review.

Congratulations to Juliane, Seth, Jeremy, and Esme!
