Welcome to the Carleton College German and Russian Department, German Section

Connect with us virtually!

If you are a new or current student interested in learning more about German at Carleton, we would be happy to schedule a virtual meeting with you.

Do you enjoy the German language and culture? Do you love to think? Take German with us! The astronomer Derek Fox from Penn State said “Take humanities because when you push yourself, really push yourself, you realize how far you have to grow and how fast you are capable of getting there.” – We can help you with that!

Statement on the Murder of George Floyd

We, the professors of the German program, condemn the murder of George Floyd and those of numerous others as well as all acts of systemic racist violence. We would like to express our support of the Black Lives Matter movement and our condolences to people of color who are grieving and hurting. Carleton College is not far from the Twin Cities and our community is closely intertwined with theirs. There is an additional sense of sadness that comes from this connection. We stand in solidarity with those demanding justice and are doing what’s in our power to help. We grieve with you.
