Photographers Leslie Grant and Casey Deming were asked to serve as artists-in-residence for the Gould Library during the summer of 2019. In their time on campus, they toured the facilities of the College and interviewed those involved with the Utility Master Plan.
Their final work is presented here, with poems and readings that detail labor, highlight its necessity in modern society, and expresses gratitude for those who built our structures. The work features drillers from Carleton’s Utility Master Plan project as well as Carleton’s own Martha Larson, who served as the project manager.
