Summer 2020 Construction Begins

6 May 2020

We have officially started our summer 2020 construction season! While our students are studying from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we took advantage of the opportunity to be able to start a bit earlier than normal for construction. This year, we are excited to hit a new milestone in the Utility Master Plan’s process: Phase II! Summer 2020 is the beginning of a two-year transition for the west and central sections of campus. This summer will focus on the west side, including Burton, Sevy, Davis, Sayles, Willis, and Musser. There are two main components of this summer’s work. The first is upgrading the piping to each of these buildings from steam to hot water. This will include a major project on the service road behind Burton. We need to access the piping beneath this road and so we are taking advantage to be able to update this narrow and old service road to a safer, upgraded version. The second part of this summer’s construction is updating the mechanical rooms in each building to be able to accept the hot water, which includes new domestic hot water systems and heat exchangers. Stay tuned as we continue upgrading campus for the 21st century! We will periodically post updates here throughout the summer. Take care!
