Overland Info Session
3 October 2018| Tuesday, October 9th @ 7pm in AGH meeting room
This summer join the dynamic, accomplished and charismatic group of Overland leaders who help kids see the world and all of its beauty and promise. Overland hires exceptional college students and recent graduates to lead summer programs across the country and around the world. Our staff of over 200 leaders and support staff spend ten days training and six weeks leading or supporting programs throughout the summer. Small groups, carefully crafted programs and inspiring leadership have been at the heart of what we do for the past 34 years. Come learn about hiking, biking, service, writing, language and field studies programs with Overland. Leaders describe Overland as the most challenging and satisfying leadership and work experience they have ever had. Join us for the info session to learn more about how this could be a great leadership opportunity for you this summer! Stick around afterwards for a chance to talk with past leaders on campus. If you are interested in setting up a short preliminary interview, please email Jordyn Adeboye (Carleton ’15) at jordyn@overlandsummers.com.

Student volunteers needed to help tutor adult college students in introductory chemistry and earth science
20 September 2018I’m writing from the CCCE. We are currently partnered with the Northfield Community College Coalition, and they have asked us if we could find some student volunteers to help tutor some of their adult college students in introductory chemistry and earth science. Tutors would work with students in the evenings, and there would be a very flexible schedule. Anyone who is interested can email Patrick Wigent (wigentp@carleton.edu) for more information.
Best,

Winter break research funding opportunity – math and science
20 September 2018Before applying, students should have already contacted and discussed the nature and timing of their project with the person they are planning to work with as well as a faculty member at Carleton who can vouch for the project. Because the intent of the fellowship is exploration in STEM fields, priority is given to students who have completed coursework related to the proposed research, but who have not yet had a significant funded research experience (7 or more weeks). Please note that students previously supported through the Kolenkow-Reitz Fund (winter break or summer) are less likely to receive funding, but are still eligible to apply.
Application Deadline: Thursday, October 4, 2018, 5:00 PM
