The Carleton Student Farm is hiring!

13 March 2026

We are looking for 4-6 farm interns to help plan, manage and operate the student farm for the 2025 summer growing season. In addition, there will be opportunities to connect with on campus student groups, other campus farms, and to support a research project on the impacts of three mulching strategies on soil health on the yield and profitability of peppers.  This work is  funded by the MN Department of Agriculture and includes connecting with the state vegetable extension.

This is a great position for students who want to work outside, learn about sustainable food and agricultural systems, improve local food access on campus over the summer, and try planning and managing a small farm business with the support of our farm manager.

Farm interns have the opportunity to work 2-5 hours per week in the spring planting or to support our experiment, then are full time over the summer (with 2 weeks of vacation time), and also are invited to work 8 hours per week in the fall to finish harvesting and field clean up. You also get to enjoy plenty of fresh vegetables throughout the summer and early fall!

Please reach out to the farm manager, Dr. Amanda Sames (asames@carleton.edu) to express interest. We will schedule interviews as early as soon as possible given the growing season approaches.
