Professor W. Ashley Griffith at The Ohio State University is recruiting one or more graduate students (PhD or MSc) to work on the evolution of fault damage zones during the seismic cycle, and the role different damage zone components play during seismic slip and steady creep. Graduate student research can include components of field work (primarily southern and eastern California), experimental rock mechanics, and/or modeling, depending on students’ backgrounds and intellectual proclivities. Funding will come from a mix of graduate research and teaching assistantships (students are typically in high demand as GTAs for the Structural Geology and Field Camp courses). Outstanding candidates may also be eligible for a large number of generous university fellowships. Interested students can contact Professor Griffith.
