GNSS/GPS Training #1 Jan 27, 2022 by Zoom

25 January 2022

As part of the professional development activity for the GIS Lab, I am offering a series of 1-3 training on Global Navigation Satellite Systems to my student workers over zoom. The first one runs on both today and this Thursday. Your students are welcome to join the Thursday session if they are interested.

The first session explains how GNSS works, sources of error on satellite signals, how differential positioning is used to remove some of the errors, and how to set up a mapping grade GNSS receiver like the Trimble Geo 7x we use at Carleton to support maximum position accuracy. GIS knowledge and experience is not required.
