For credit “study-away” opportunity in ocean sciences and engineering at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
28 February 2019The Semester at WHOI Program was initiated in 2015, and 12 students (2 in 2015, 5 in 2016, 2 in 2017, and 3 in 2018) have completed the program. We currently (for fall 2019) have a grant to help expand the program that provides a scholarship of $7500 to anyone admitted.* Students who have completed the program have gone on to Ph.D. programs; a Masters degree program; and positions as research technicians. Deadline for admission for fall 2019 is April 30, 2019.

Penn State REU 2019 Project Drawdown
28 February 2019Coming up this summer, Penn State is hosting up to 40 students for a “research experience for undergrads” (REU) to work on projects related to Project Drawdown. Project Drawdown is focused on implementing a wide range of solutions to reversing global warming.

Wasatch-Uinta Field Camp
12 February 2019The Wasatch-Uinta Field Camp still has several open spots for summer 2019. If any of your students are looking for field camp, please encourage them to check it out at fieldcamp.org. Application directions can be found here (http://fieldcamp.org/content/enrollment-fees).
The Wasatch-Uinta Field Camp is a six-week capstone course designed to prepare students for successful careers in the geosciences. We emphasize scientific methodology and traditional techniques that provide a strong foundation for the broad range of modern technologies used by today’s industry, academic, government and private workforces.

City Internships 2019
28 January 2019Our Spring Programs in Paris, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco are now closed. There are a handful of remaining places in London, Paris and New York, however we expect to close those locations in the next two weeks.
Our Summer programs continue to fill at a record rate, and I would encourage any interested students to apply now to avoid disappointment.

Undergraduate Summer Internship Opportunity (NASA’s SUPPR) 2019
24 January 2019The NASA Planetary Geology and Geophysics Undergraduate Research Program has a new name: it’s now known as NASA’s Summer Undergraduate Program for Planetary Research (SUPPR) and it is accepting applications from students who are interested in exploring planetary science for 8 weeks this summer under the mentorship of a NASA-funded researcher.
Applications are due on February 4, 2019.

International Volcanological Field School
14 January 2019Our International Volcanological Field School is a 3-credit course offered through the University of Alaska Fairbanks in two sessions each summer in Katmai National Park, Alaska and Mutnovsky and Gorely Volcanos, Kamchatka, Russia. This course provides undergraduate and graduate students interested in volcanology with direct access to areas of active volcanism and with opportunity to discuss volcanic processes while examining the products of recent eruptive deposits.
