The student worker position will mine data from project files, prepare and enter data into the MPCA EQuIS system, assist with project management and mapping. Minimum Qualifications: Post secondary education student working on an environmental degree. (To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker you must be a student enrolled in an educational program or planning to enroll within three months. Students may be “off” for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as student workers, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. As a student you must be enrolled in high school or in a post-secondary or graduate program. If a student is enrolled at a credit granting institution he/she must carry at least six semester (nine quarter) credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, a student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load shall be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.) This position will work full-time (40 hrs/wk) during the summer and school breaks and part-time (up to 20 hours/wk) during school sessions. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with GIS software and electronic data systems Experience working with environmental sampling data. Enrolled and/or completed courses in data management and/or hydrology/hydrogeology demonstrating the ability to process large data sets with attention to detail, contour extracted data. Demonstrated ability to communicate and to work quickly and efficiently under pressure. Ability to follow standard operating procedures and document and write suggested improvements. Experience working with data using Microsoft Excel, Earthsoft EQuIS and ESRI ArcMap. Experience extracting data from PDFs. Ability to work independently with minimal directions. Physical Requirements Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders.
