Maxbauer group busy with Northfield field work this summer

6 July 2022

This summer Dan Maxbauer is working with Carleton students studying carbon dioxide removal through enhanced weathering in agriculture. Enhanced weathering aims to accelerate natural carbon dioxide removal through mineral weathering by applying crushed silicate rocks and materials to farm fields. Each week, students are measuring soil water chemistry and gas flux. These datasets will be important to determine the carbon dioxide removal efficiency and to track any possible side effects of the silicate treatments.
