GSC

The Gender and Sexuality Center offers resources and support for LGBTQA+ students. The GSC’s services include:

  • Staff who are available to chat will all students regarding issues of gender and sexuality, including questions about coming out, being out, supporting friends or family or resources on campus. If you want to chat, email gsc@carleton.edu.
  • The Trans/Gender Support and Discussion Group, which meets weekly to offer support to students who identify as transgender, and promotes discussion of the atmosphere for such students at Carleton.
  • Serving as a contact for LGBTQA+ community-related resource and support groups on campus.
  • Private discussions of LGBTQA+ issues related to life here at Carleton.

College Chapel

The College Chapel provides an LGBTQA+ community safe place on campus. The College chapel and staff are confidential resources available to anyone on campus. They offer individual support, educational activities, and often sponsor LGBTQA+ related events, including LGBTQA+ Chapel services to celebrate National Coming Out Day and Pride Month.

Student Health and Counseling (SHAC)

Student Health and Counseling staff are available to work with students in a variety of areas including LGBTQA+ issues. In addition to offering one-on-one conversations, they have a resource library that includes books, brochures and videos on LGBTQA+ topics.

Career Center

The Career Center is the place to find internship and job opportunity resources for the Carleton LGBTQA+ community. The Career Center has books, websites, and other practical information available to help you find LGBTQA+ friendly companies and LGBTQA+ specific organizations.

Peer Support

There are many student groups and peer leaders that provide resources to the LGBTQA+ community. The Campus Advocates Against Sexual Harassment and Assault (CAASHA), Resident Assistants, Student Wellness Advisors (SWAs), Gender and Sexuality Center Associates and OIL Peer Leaders all receive training on sensitivity to LGBTQA+ issues and concerns. Many are also available as a resource for one-on-one advising and information on educational programming. You can also check out other student organizations listed on our website.
