LGBTQIA+ History Month: Finding Joy & Power in Community

LGBTQIA+ History Month logo

Join the GSC in celebrating LGBTQIA+ History Month! Each October, we recognize and celebrate LGBTQIA+ History Month as a way to bring awareness to events, individuals, and organizations working to uplift and forge new opportunities for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Our theme this year is Finding Joy & Power in Community. During a time when queer and trans people’s safety, freedom of expression, and access to healthcare are increasingly under attack, it’s more important than ever for LGBTQIA+ people to gather, care for each other, and create space for collective joy and healing. Our goal at the GSC is to provide opportunities throughout the month for folks to do just that.

Throughout October, students, staff, faculty, and alumni will find a rich array of opportunities to come together and experience different facets of the LGBTQIA+ Community at Carleton and beyond. To see our full calendar of events, check out our schedule below.

As Clader (GSC), Henrickson (QTBIPOC), and Berg (Rainbow) Houses prepare to relocate next year while the Student Life and Housing plan is in full swing, we also want to celebrate the many forms in which LGBTQIA+ communities exist at Carleton, and will continue to exist even while we’re in transition.

We hope you join us in celebrating LGBTQIA+ History this October.
