Chérif Keïta, William H. Laird professor of French and the liberal arts, was recognized by Gambian Kora virtuoso Sona Jobarteh in an interview with Afropop Worldwide. The award-winning musician, who performed at Carleton in 2018 and was featured on CBS 60 Minutes last November, explained how she has used Chérif’s scholarship since the start of her career to properly center her work within her Mande culture.
