16 September 2019

Cathy Yandell, W.I. and Hulda F. Daniell Professor of French Literature, Language, and Culture, gave a lecture at what is now known as “Sorbonne Université” in June. The title of her talk (translated into English here) was “Ronsard and the Homeric Body: A Genuflection to Humanism.” She is most grateful to Clara Hardy for her invaluable help with the Greek quotations! Cathy also served on the “Comité Scientifique” for a conference on Marguerite de Navarre and Marguerite de Valois at l’Universite de Paris Est-Marne la Vallée in May and was invited to join the research group Atelier XVIe Siècle at the Sorbonne. Finally, in August, she gave a talk, “Notre-Dame de Paris: A Once and Future Icon,” at La Vida Llena Retirement Community in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
