The Fulbright Student Program has been in existence since 1946 and offers U.S. Citizens the opportunity to spend an academic year in a foreign country of their choice. Each year approximately 1900 fellowships are granted for work in over 160 countries worldwide. Because the requirements vary from country to country and program to program, students should check the stated requirements for their proposed host country carefully. This information can be found at the Fulbright US Student Program website:

Students may apply in the academic (study/research or arts) category or the English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) category. Seniors and recent Carleton graduates apply through Carleton’s Office of Student Fellowships.  See the Timetable for detailed information on the process and important dates!

Carleton is once again listed among the top-producing institutions for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, based on grants awarded for the 2022-23 academic year.
