Many fellowships are related to civic engagement or build on an applicant’s history of civic engagement, and many Carleton nominees for national/international fellowships also have a record of such activities!

While this list is not exhaustive, it will give you a sense of the wide array of opportunities out there for students and graduates who have dedicated time to civic engagement, honed skills that are useful in public service, and wish to take what they’ve learned out into the world and into their post-Carleton lives. Fellowships marked with ** are open to international students (sometimes with limitations); all others are either restricted to US Citizens only or open to US citizens, permanent residents, and DACA recipients.

You may also wish to consult our page on fellowships related to careers in government, non-profits, and/or education (you’ll see a lot of overlap with what is here).

If you find something of interest and would like to discuss it further, you can use Director of Student Fellowships Marynel Ryan Van Zee’s Office Hours Calendar to schedule an appointment.
