Jerry Pardue

Jerry Pardue, age 84, died in Athens, Texas on August 3rd. Jerry was the Varsity Wrestling Coach at Carleton from 1995 to 2000 and was named “Coach of the Year” by the MN Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 2000. Jerry cared deeply about others and was a father figure to many. He went to great lengths to help his wrestlers, especially those with limited financial means.

Carleton was his last coaching position after three decades of head coaching in programs from the high school level to Division I. In his late 60’s, Jerry went on to become ordained as an Anglican priest and served a church in Texas until his retirement in 2021.

Because Jerry had no family, a more complete obituary was written by one of his former wrestlers, Joe Stark ’03.

He was our Varsity wrestling coach at Boone County High School in 1993-1994, he was a Legend to us! We all wondered where he moved to after a short stint at Wilmington College in Ohio. He was a fun guy!
