Jeanne Jacobson, age 96, died on January 31st. From 1966 to 1985, Jean worked as an administrative assistant in departments and offices across campus (PEAR, Student Activities, Dean of the College, Music, and Alumni Affairs). She immersed herself in campus life, including as an avid Carleton basketball fan.
Jean was creative, adventurous, and had a quiet humor. Along with her husband, Professor of Art Ray (“Jake”) Jacobson, she patiently helped welcome new faculty into the fold in her caring, generous, and unassuming way. A more complete obituary is available on the Bierman Funeral Home website.
Services for Jeanne will be held when it is possible to travel.
Comments
I don't think I am doing a disservice to Jeanne by commenting on what Jeanne and Jake were together. Form both of them , I received kindness, support, and a quiet humor. They really were a matched pair in so many ways. I have always appreciated people who get things done without drawing attention to themselves. That certainly fit both Jake and Jeanne. What they made of their home, their life together, their family, and the many people they touched, has to be admired.
