Hank was the stickler for details in my early admissions office life. He noticed when we needed more coffee, if a chair was out of alignment and also who needed to arrive on time for meetings! But he was a kind soul with a hearty laugh and witty comments. He was not above sarcasm either, another reason to like him. Rest easy, Hank.

Hank is the reason I got to go to Carleton. My parents didn't have much money, because of the costs of caring for my disabled younger sister. That didn't show up on financial aid forms, but Hank understood the situation and helped me get the aid I needed to go to Carleton. I loved helping him in admissions during and after my time at Carleton. What a wonderful man.
