  • Lee Ramette

    Lee Ramette died on March 25th at home in Green Valley, AZ. Lee was a secretary in the Office of the President from 1970-1973 and then in Art and Art History until retiring in 1997. Faculty colleagues in Art and Art History describe Lee as the heart of the department. She was a skillful administrative assistant, flexible and resilient, with a wry wit. For many in the department, Lee also acted as an older sister, loyal friend, and sounding board, giving gentle advice and offering cooking, parenting, and gardening tips when needed.

  • Doris Pumper

    Doris Pumper, age 94, died on February 23rd at Three Links Care Center in Northfield. Doris worked in the Carleton Business Office from 1967-1991. Her role as student account specialist gave her the opportunity to assist students with their financial issues during their time at Carleton and during their loan repayment periods after graduation. She touched many of them with her concern and dedication.

  • Nancy Casper

    Nancy Casper died peacefully on February 3rd at Three Links in Northfield. Nancy worked in the Carleton Library’s interlibrary loan services from 1987 until her retirement in 2006. She also worked closely with students through her husband, Barry (Mike) Casper’s Science, Technology, and Public Policy program (now ENTS). She was always welcoming, caring, and gracious to students and colleagues.

  • Jack Ranslow

    Jack R. Ranslow, age 67, died December 1st at home in Faribault after a lengthy battle with cancer. Jack worked at Carleton in Food Service and Custodial Services for 34 years, from 1975 until his retirement in 2009. Jack was well known on campus as always being friendly, kind, and positive, even after he got sick. He was a hard worker and a great person with whom to work. Jack was passionate about helping others and often volunteered at the Faribault prison and in the larger community.

  • Cris Roosenraad

    Cris Roosenraad, 75, died at home on Monday, October 24th, from a heart attack. Cris came to Carleton in 1983 as the Dean of Students, a position he held for ten years. During that time, he also served as a Lecturer in Mathematics and Director of the Career Center.

  • Noel Williams

    Noel Williams, 58, died on Monday, Oct 10th, at home in Elysian, MN, in a yard work accident.  Noel had worked as a Security Supervisor at Carleton since 1989.

  • Kathy Tezla

    Kathy Tezla died on May 6th after a long battle with cancer. Kathy came to Carleton in 1999, serving as the first Head of Collection Development for Gould Library until 2014. She worked closely with academic departments and individual faculty members to develop the library collection in support of the College’s curriculum. She also developed the library’s first policies for the systematic collection of electronic resources. In both of these endeavors she began formal coordination of our collection and policies with those of the St. Olaf Library.

  • Graham Kimble

    Graham Kimble, age 85, died on March 2nd in Casper, Wyoming. Graham worked at Carleton from 1964–1980 as an instructor in Mathematics, Director of Data Processing, Director of the Computer Center, and Director of Computing Activities. He helped students, administrative offices, and academic departments learn about and use computers in innovative ways.

  • Charles Yale Pfoutz

    Charles Yale Pfoutz, age 90, died on Saturday, February 14th at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield. Yale worked at Carleton for 30 years, beginning in 1959 as the director of non-academic personnel, and then becoming the assistant business manager, assistant treasurer, business manager, personnel director, and benefits administrator. He retired in 1989. Yale is described as being a great colleague, dependable and hard working, quietly keeping many aspects of the college running smoothly. His dedication and good work continue to shape the college.

  • Evelyn Johnson

    Evelyn Johnson, age 63, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 22nd, at her home in Bay City. Evelyn worked at Carleton for 42 years, beginning right after she graduated from high school in June 1969 and retiring in September 2011. During those years, she worked as the secretary in the Modern Languages and Geology Departments, and in the Career Center, but mostly as the Registration Coordinator. Evelyn’s “work sisters” in the Registrar’s office describe her as fun, generous, and witty, as well as a great worker who helped to build a strong team.
