The English Department seeks two juniors to work, for Spring Term, with this year’s editors of the _Second Laird Miscellany_, Molly Work ’14 and Isaac Werner ’14. The position involves up to two hours of paid student work per week. It is renewable for the academic year 2014-15. See full description below.
Please send a brief letter of application, indicating your strengths, relevant experience, and a statement of how, as one of several editors, you’d hope to shape the _Second Laird Miscellany_ to Timothy Raylor, Chair, English Department (traylor@carleton.edu) by 10:00 pm Wednessday April 9. Experience with WordPress is a plus, but not required.

Position Overview: The student will work up to two hours per week as part of a team to edit the English Department’s online blog/newsletter, The Second Laird Miscellany
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
*Producing copy for weekly features (e.g. Senior Spotlights), news items, and/or competitions
*Soliciting contributions from students, faculty, staff, and alumni
*Editing text for correctness, accuracy, and appropriateness
Additional Job Responsibilities:
*Managing communication (e.g., queries, responses) relating to Miscellany
*Communicating with supervisor on matters arising from Miscellany
Qualifications:
*Excellent writing and editing skills
*Responsible attitude
*Organization
*Self-motivation
*Ability to work to a schedule
*Understanding of electronic publication
Wage:
Standard student rate; up to 2 hours per week
