Meet the New Majors!

5 May 2023
By Elena Cebulash, Sophia Heidebrecht & Andriana Taratsas

Last week, we got to meet some of our newly declared English majors at the English department’s annual party for major declarations. It was a fun time, complete with trivia (ask Pierre about the time he jumped on a sea lion next time you see him), and of course the time-honored tradition of the faces cake (see Figure 1). So of course, it’s time for the Second Laird Miscellany‘s own time-honored tradition: our annual post introducing this year’s recently declared English majors. Read on to find out more about some of our newest imps!

It is nice to see that Carleton College maintains its traditions and welcomes new Majors. I remember 15 years ago when I entered here to study, I was also warmly welcomed by the staff of this wonderful educational institution and gave me an excellent education. Thanks to the knowledge I gained here, I was able to work in many successful companies and see the world. For example, I worked as a top manager in the company CARSHE, which designs and builds some of the best exhibition stands in Europe (Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Italy). Therefore, I lived in Europe for more than 3 years, visited major international exhibitions and Trade Shows where we built our luxurious exhibition stands and saw many interesting things. Therefore, my recommendation to all Carleton students is to study hard, do not be lazy, gain knowledge and your life will be interesting and fulfilling.
