Alison Kettering Lectures and Article

Alison Kettering, William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Art History, Emerita, gave three zoom lectures this spring: “The Artists’ Book and Fred Hagstrom’s Work at BIMA,” at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art,  on May 21; “Women and Watercolor in the 17th-century Dutch Republic,” at the University of Amsterdam, on April 13; and “Black in Rembrandt’s Time, the Culture of Race in 17th-century Dutch Art,” at the University of Arkansas, on March 12. This summer, an article, “Watercolor and Women in the Early Modern Netherlands, Between Mirror and Comb,” will appear in Woman’s Art Journal 42:1 (Spring-Summer 2021).
