Student Panel Discussion: Studio Ghibli Anime Music
What is the role of music in movies? How does the music of Studio Ghibli’s masterpieces like Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, and many others relate to the stories and visuals? In collaboration with music professor and Japanese film scholar Brooke Okazaki, Carleton students will shed light on the deep connections between Joe Hisaishi’s music for director Miyazaki Hayao’s beloved feature films. They will then open the floor to the audience for a conversation about Japanese culture, anime, and film music in general.
