A Year in Berkeley
1 June 2002“I never did get used to my office view. I spent this past academic year as a Visiting Professor in the Graduate School of Education at the University of California at Berkeley. My office window offered a magical view of the Golden Gate Bridge, and, on rare clear days, a view of San Francisco. Once, when the sunset was particularly fiery, I was five minutes late to my evening class.”

NASA Science Day with Local Girl Scouts
14 May 2002The Methods of Science course planned a NASA science day on campus with local girl scouts called “Mission: Solar System.” About 40 girls from first through fifth grade participated in the Planet Dance and made Alka Seltzer rockets and telescopes among other activities.

Multicultural Education
1 November 2001This fall we had the chance to hear from many perspectives about what it means to be an American, attend our schools, and live within different cultures within those schools. Students told their own stories and then heard the stories of visitors. These speakers presented a variety of ways of being active in the educational world and in the world at large.
