Participants in the CLIC Internship Competition will practice case interview methods in fun competition for a summer internship with a startup associated with a Carleton alum.

The 2026 CLIC internship will be at Windgap Medical, Aaron Mann ’98 (CEO).
Most of us know at least one family member or friend who self-administer injections–perhaps a diabetic taking insulin or someone with an auto-immune disease like rheumatoid arthritis. Recent developments of GLP-1 treatments promise to make self-injection even more common.
While the idea of self-administered injection treatments is established, many patients continue to experience great inconvenience because the drugs they use present complications. The drug in question might not be shelf-stable, its administration requires careful mixing or sequencing, or it is too viscous for traditional technologies. With no option to self-administer, these patients must orient their lives around office visits and treatment schedules. Too often these challenges become real barriers to therapy for patients.
With more than 100 patents, Windgap Medical is developing solutions to allow these patients to take back control of their lives.
Aaron Mann ’98

Aaron has over 20 years of experience in the medical device and pharmaceutical services industries across a variety of leadership roles.
Before joining Windgap as the CEO in 2023, Aaron served as the founding CEO of Kindeva Drug Delivery, a complex drug CDMO focused on respiratory and transdermal combination products.
He built Kindeva in partnership with 3M and Altaris Capital Partners following 3M’s divestiture in 2019. He has prior executive leadership roles at Phillips-Medisize, 3M, and Remedi SeniorCare, and started his career at Bain & Company, the consulting firm. In addition to his BA from Carleton, he holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
Process
- Case Prompt
Goal: Prioritize markets for early adoption of Windgap Medical technologies for advanced self-injection treatment.
Situation: Windgap Medical is developing technologies that make it possible to re-imagine self-administration of treatments that have previously required office visits because the treatment involves careful mixing, drug sequencing, or high viscosity drugs. Each of these technological advances could be applied to a large number of molecules, therapies, and pharmaceutical companies, but resources (capital, time) are constrained, and the firm will need to prioritize which markets it pursues.
Question: Identify a strong candidate for early implementation. What relevant maladies/treatments affect a large number of patients who could be helped by the new technology? Why is this the best focus for Windgap? - Applicants will take up to 10 hours to research the case, formulate their solution, and create a 3- to 5-minute recording of their response.
- April 6, 2026: Students will email Nathan Grawe their video solution, a resume, and a cover letter addressed to Aaron Mann.
- April 13, 2026: Finalists will be given feedback and invited to present at the finale.
- April 18, 2026 11:00am to around noon: In a public finale, finalists will present their solutions to Aaron who will select the winner of the competition. After the finale, Aaron will take all finalists to lunch.
Resources for Case Interviews
In addition to tools you might find on the web (eg, this page by McKinsey & Co), the Career Center offers suggestions on how to approach cases.
Eligibility
- The Internship Competition is open to all current first-year, sophomore, and junior students.
- International students are welcome to apply.
- Must be in good standing with the college (academic and conduct).
- To ensure that financial support for high impact experiences such as summer internships and research roles are available to as many students as possible, summer funding grants are only available to students who have not/will not accepted another substantial source of Carleton Funding, such as a summer research grant or fellowship, for the same summer or academic term. Case by case exceptions will be considered for short-term funded research related to Comps projects.
Intern Expectations
- Interns must be available at least six weeks for at least 240 hours.
- Interns are strongly encouraged to work in-person at Windgap’s Watertown, MA offices. In cases where this location would pose a hardship, conversation about an alternative plan are welcome. Let Nathan know right away if this is the case so we can begin thinking it through.
- As a condition of receiving funding, students complete the following:
- Learning plan
- Feedback conversations with your supervisor
- 1-2 Photos from internship experience
- Advising appointment with a career coach upon your return to campus
- Final reflection essay
- Culminating poster or presentation to be shared with the campus community
Funding recipients must comply with all set deadlines and requirements. Students who do not fulfill their requirements will be charged up to $500 in the subsequent term of enrollment.
