Extra Vacation Days over Winter Break
President Byerly’s announcement of vacation days from December 27 – December 30 is a very welcome addition to campus holidays on December 23, 24, and 31. Most offices and departments will be closed during this time, including the Dean’s office. Please arrange to get the staff support you need to prepare for winter term before December 23 or after January 2. Some offices and departments have unavoidable work activities during these additional vacation days. In these cases, please communicate with staff well in advance so that schedules can be coordinated and alternative vacation days can be enjoyed.
Meetings with the President and Dean
President Byerly and Dean Hofmeister would be happy to attend one of your department or program meetings in winter term. Please be in touch with Peggy Pfister to schedule a time.

Barnes and Noble Advertising
We received reports that B&N were including recommended course materials for some faculty member’s courses, specifically Bartleby. B&N has agreed to remove all recommendations of this type and we have opted out of Bartleby sales altogether.

NSF “Racial Equity in STEM Education”
The National Science Foundation’s new “Racial Equity in STEM Education” program seeks to support bold, ground-breaking, and potentially transformative projects addressing systemic racism in STEM. Proposals from faculty or staff should advance racial equity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and workforce development through research (both fundamental and applied) and practice. Contact Christopher Tassava to discuss this opportunity.
