I have spent the past few weeks meeting with a group of your peers to hear and discuss ideas about how Carleton can recognize your achievements both now and in the future. I’m writing today to share our plans for celebrating the Class of 2020.
- The College will officially confer your degrees—virtually—on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at 11:30 a.m. CDT. This is a moment for our community to come together with you and your loved ones to celebrate your time at Carleton. We will share a link and details the week prior. Please note the time change from our originally scheduled in-person ceremony.
- The College will host an in-person commencement ceremony and abbreviated Senior Week activities for the Class of 2020 during the summer of 2021. While we don’t have a firm date at this time, we hope to finalize plans by this September. Much still depends on how the pandemic situation progresses, but we are committed to celebrating your accomplishments in true Carleton fashion.
- All graduating seniors will receive a graduation cap and tassel as a gift from Carleton prior to June 13, 2020. The deadline to order additional commencement-related items has been extended; the Bookstore is working with its vendor to make online ordering possible.
- Diplomas will be mailed the week of June 15, 2020. If you need to change your permanent address on record with the College, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please contact the Registrar’s Office with questions.
I remain impressed by your patience throughout the many changes that have been necessitated this spring. Updates on the shipping of any belongings you left behind, as well as extended access to your Carleton email address, are forthcoming.
Yours is a remarkable class from which I will continue to draw inspiration. I look forward to congratulating you on your achievements and resilience, first virtually, and then in person when it is safe to gather.
