Message to Faculty and Staff about Remote Work

25 June 2020

Dear Colleagues,

While we have not yet finalized plans for the coming academic year, we know many of you have questions about summer work.  Because we continue to need to reduce the density of people to allow for physical distancing on campus, we ask employees whose role and workload enables them to be effective while working remotely to continue to do so through the end of July.

For employees with reduced work schedules over the summer months, we ask that you follow your normal summer work schedule and keep your hours within the allotted FTE. If there is a need to adjust your summer hours, please contact Human Resources.

Most employees who require an on-campus presence have returned to campus. Human Resources will work with supervisors over the next couple of weeks to bring back remaining employees who need to work on campus.

We will work to find interim assignments for employees interested in summer work but whose regular summer work has been discontinued (building supervisors where the buildings are closed, event staff for canceled events, etc.). The pandemic pay continuation code will continue to be assigned to employees regularly scheduled for summer work who are not offered interim assignments in July.

Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and dedication over the past several months. It has been remarkable to see the many ways everyone has stepped up to support the mission and provide our students with an exceptional experience during these profoundly altered circumstances.

Sincerely,
Kerstin
