Becoming a Disability Peer Leader is an opportunity to positively impact Carleton and the greater community. Disability Peer Leaders experience personal growth through learning, researching, and contributing to the improved experiences of others.

Disability Peer Leaders serve in the following capacities:

  • Mentor first-year students during their transition to college through First Year Transition Program
  • Provide academic support for students desiring assistance with organization, planning, and assignment completion
  • Collaborate with Disability Services staff on original research to further knowledge of disabilities
  • Promote a positive disability culture through implementation of campus activities
  • Assist community organizations with a focus on disability
  • Provide social coaching for students with autism spectrum disorders
  • Coverage of Disability Services office hours and duties
  • Participate during New Student Week orientation
