Education & Professional History
Astronomer studying the evolution of supermassive black holes via dwarf galaxies. I have a strong passion for science outreach and communication, and I always want to talk about ways to communicate science to as wide an audience as possible. Outside of research, my primary goal is to work to be as strong a support network for current students as I had throughout my education.
At Carleton since 2023.

My research is in dwarf galaxy astronomy, focusing on hosts of active galactic nuclei (AGNs). These low mass galaxies give us a chance to study how supermassive black holes formed in the centers of massive galaxies. This work has given me the chance to work with data from the Hubble Space Telescope, Chandra X-Ray Observatory and the United Kingdom InfraRed Telescope.
I am always into traveling and finding new experiences – especially experiences where I can find some new and tasty vegan food! I’m an extremely amateur wildlife and nightscape photographer, which basically means I like pointing my camera at animals, flowers, and the nighttime sky. You’ll regularly find me listening to a podcast about whatever topic has has caught my attention lately; recommend me your favorite!
I’m a huge sports fan, especially basketball. In my spare time, I like to play around with sports data visualization in Python (although I should certainly learn something like R for that).
Talk to me about sports, video games, outer space, animals, or your favorite period of history!
