I was born in Minnesota and moved between Minnesota and Florida throughout my childhood in order to be close to my family in Minnesota and my family in Colombia. After graduating from Carleton, I resided in the Twin Cities while completing my masters in clinical counseling with a certificate in marriage and family therapy. In 2014 I spent 8 months in South America, visiting family in Colombia and backpacking and working on various organic farms in Argentina and Chile, some of which included a tomato farm, goat farm and mango farm. Following that experience, I worked in Minneapolis at CLUES and at Kente Circle, supporting individuals and families in South Minneapolis.

Eventually, the desire to live sustainably off the land lead my partner and me to move to a hobby farm south of Northfield. I have worked in the Northfield community for the past 8 years. I currently reside with my partner, 2 children, an old lady cat, a border collie, a rambunctious farm cat and a massive hoop house garden.

I am passionate about the blending of values and systems and the impact our individual and family values have on how we move through the systems of school, work and community. There is so much to balance when at Carleton. The academic rigor and social dynamics can feel overwhelming in itself, and considering the other layers of the systems you are involved in can make your experience feel isolating. I enjoy working to empower students to gain confidence in their identities. No matter where you are in your journey, SHAC staff are here to provide support.
