Isaac (they/he) is originally from Texas and attended Texas State University (B.S. Chemistry ’16, M.S. Chemistry ’18). During undergrad, Isaac conducted research in chemistry education, polymer chemistry, and small molecule synthesis, and participated in an NSF-REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) at Texas A&M working with Dr. Don Darensbourg. They then studied organic molecules for redox flow batteries (green energy storage) under Dr. Todd Hudnall during their M.S. studies before moving to Michigan in 2018 to start their PhD studies in inorganic chemistry at the University of Michigan with Dr. Melanie Sanford. He also spent a summer at Reed College working with undergraduate researchers in the lab of Dr. Mir Bowring. During his PhD, Isaac studied the synthesis and reactivity of elusive organometallic complexes which have unstable carbon-copper bonds.
Isaac graduated in the summer of 2023 and will start at Carleton in Fall 2023. Outside of teaching and research, Isaac spends most of their time climbing rocks (or walls indoors) and crafting worlds for anywhere from 3-5 D&D campaigns.
At Carleton since 2023.
