Gail graduated from Oberlin College in 2012 with a BA in biology and minor in chemistry. After completing a Watson fellowship and working at Mote Marine Lab in Sarasota, FL, she started graduate school at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, William & Mary. Following the completion of her Ph.D. in Marine Science in 2020, she spent a year as a postdoc at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
