Gladys Cortes de Venegas ’19
Hello!
My name is Gladys and I am an Associate Dean of Admissions & the Director of Diversity Outreach and Recruitment at Carleton College. I graduated from Carleton in 2019 as a Sociology and Anthropology major and a Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies minor.
I first heard about Carleton from a friend who was going to enroll as part of the Posse Program. When I heard “Minnesota,” I was shocked! Why would anyone choose to leave their home state?? At the time, leaving Texas sounded like a massive change and I wrestled with that.
Short story. My curiosity won me over and I found a campus that offered a rigorous academic curriculum, fantastic professors, and a supportive community. I’ve since learned that curiosity is something that connects all Carls!
The best part of my role is serving students who are excited to find their respective community. I’m passionate about the power of a liberal arts education and am always excited to talk about what this can mean for a student’s college experience. Please feel free to contact me to chat about this or anything related to Carleton, Northfield, and which is (TRULY) the best coffee shop in town.
At Carleton since 2024.
