I am an applied macroeconomist and financial economist. My research agenda focuses the sources and effects of changes in economic agents’ expectations. I look at this question in the context of two distinct areas: First, what can we infer from forecast surveys (and aggregate data) about belief formation and the sources of disagreement? Second, how are the prices of Treasury bonds determined, and what are the effects of conventional and unconventional monetary and Treasury management policy?
My web site contains links to my working papers.
I regularly teach Principles of Macroeconomics and Intermediate Macroeconomic theory as well as electives in macroeconomics, including Growth and Development and Money and Banking.
Since arriving at Carleton, I’ve started writing mini-textbooks accompanied by web applications in the R package Shiny. Links to those texts/apps and a public repository are available on the teaching section of my personal web site
