As an undergraduate at the University of Tennessee, I earned three majors in English, Political Science, and Business (Public Administration), with a minor in Cinema Studies. Also at Tennessee, I earned my MA in English, with a focus in Literature. At Carnegie Mellon, I received my doctorate in Literary and Cultural Studies.
I have fifteen years of teaching experience, leading courses across the fields of writing, film and media studies, literature, and cultural studies. In addition to the University of Tennessee and Carnegie Mellon, I have taught at Temple University, University of Delaware, Rutgers University, St. Olaf College, and University of Minnesota.
My research and publications primarily concern government film and Cold War culture, with a particular focus on the motion pictures of the U.S. Information Agency, the nation’s global propaganda and public diplomacy office during the Cold War.
