On the Monday of winter term mid-term break, Gibson Price, Sous Chef at LDC, conducted a cooking class for a group of students known as Firebellies. Firebellies is a cooking club that was formed last fall at Carleton. Gibson called his class Cooking 101 and the topic of the session was making pizza. First the students learned how to make pizza dough and then they learned how to roll it out. A few of them even trying throwing the dough in the old Italian style. After the dough was ready they turned their attention to making pizza sauce and getting the toppings prepared. Then pizzas were assembled and baked in the open fire oven.
At the end of the class the students sat down and enjoyed the fruits of their labor. Sounds like they had a great time. Look for Gibson to do another class during mid-term break in the spring. He hasn’t decided his subject yet.
