Katherine Elkins

In 2016, Katherine Elkins co-created the first human-centered AI curriculum at Kenyon College, where she also co-founded the KDH Lab. Since then, students have been leveraging the latest AI models to answer some of our most pressing questions. Their research has been downloaded over 40,000 times in over 150 countries by over 1500 institutions. In 2022, inspired by this research, she published the first methodology that leverages AI to model the shapes of stories (Cambridge UP). Her current research focuses on AI fairness and safety, and the KDH Lab was recently invited to join the US AI Safety Institute to conduct AI research and inform public policy.
