In the afternoon, participants will break up for 90 minute hands-on sessions devoted to specific aspects of DH pedagogy and practice.
Teaching with StoryMaps – Weitz 138
Shana Crosson (University of Minnesota)

Designing class projects using StoryMaps can lead to powerful learning experiences as students combine spatial data with narrative and visuals. Let’s come together to explore and share ideas of how to incorporate these tools into great student projects!
Teaching with Virtual Reality – Weitz 026 (IdeaLab)
Austin Mason, Em Palencia (Carleton College)
Virtual Reality technologies have been simultaneously overhyped (RIP Metaverse) and underused in higher education in recent years, partly due to the confusing and shifting range of hardware, software, costs and quality of programming available. This workshop aims to bridge that gap by introducing some accessible resources for incorporating existing immersive experiences into the classroom and some tools for developing your own VR pedagogical content.
