On January 10, 2017 Carleton’s Perlman Center for Learning and Teaching sponsored a talk by Nicholas Bauch, Assistant Professor of GeoHumanities in the department of geography and environmental sustainability, University of Oklahoma.

This talk offers a definition of what the “new” Geo-Humanities is and gives examples of how it is practiced focusing on a particular sub-branch of Geo-Humanities called Digital Geo-Humanities. Working in digital media does far more than produce catchy online communication outlets for existing research; it offers the opportunity to visualize theoretical concepts in ways hitherto confined to text, and therefore to advance those same theoretical concerns in ways previously unimaginable.
