Arthur Rackham

Widely considered one of the best Alice illustrators, Arthur Rackham (1867-1939) was born in London on September 19, 1867. Rackham's Alice was one of seven new editions published in 1907 (the year the copyright expired). Some admirers of Tenniel sharply criticized the work, but many others found Rackham's Alice much more acceptable and charming than Tenniel's. His work is stunning, beautiful, mysterious, even menacing and the perfect complement to Carroll's words. To learn more about Arthur Rackham, follow this link to Rackham.Artpassions.net.
