Mabel Lucie Attwell

Mabel Lucie Attwell (1879-1964) was born in Mile End, London on June 4, 1879. She is best known for her illustrations of chubby infants and toddlers. Her edition of Alice, published in 1911, is much more innocent and bright than many of her predecessor's editions and is really very delightful, if perhaps too "light" for Carroll's classic.
