Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
Northfield was in the line of severe weather this evening between 6:45 and 7:15 p.m. CT. Tornado warning sirens were sounded, and students were notified proceed to designated shelter areas. No incidents of injuries have been reported, though a number of trees and branches are down around campus. Goodhue Hall suffered damage to several lounges. Students from seven adjacent rooms have been relocated until these spaces can be reviewed for safety. (The Goodhue Hall Dinner was happening at this time across campus in Great Hall, so fortunately there were few students in Goodhue during the storm.)
Emergency power is on for all facilities on campus. Sections of the City of Northfield are without power, including some of Carleton’s interest houses and some off-campus houses.
Facilities, Student Life, and Security staff will continue to ascertain the damage and respond to needs this evening into tomorrow.
