I had to wake up early today and get breakfast quickly in Birmingham, Alabama. What a nice city! I will remember that I first tried southern fried chicken here and it was really good. Today, we headed to Memphis, Tennessee and our first stop was the Stax Museum.

Once inside Stax, I could see the importance of the city as an epicenter of the African American community’s music where many people could record and perform masterpieces in form of songs and chants. Whether it was music for the joy of people or for protest against segregation and racism, it stands as one of the well said historical places where history and change was made.

Afterwards, we went to the Four Way restaraunt and ate chicken again. This place was a favorite of MLK. We later ventured to the Lorraine Motel.

Once in the Lorraine Motel, I learned more about the MLK assassination and more about his life and others who in their own will and way fought for the Black community. It is impressive that that venue is still there, and more visited than ever, as if it were there reminding us what was done in the past and how it could be better nowadays.

To wrap up the day, I woke up in Alabama, got lunch in Tennessee, got dinner in Missouri and we kept ourselves in a long ride but with more knowledge of this part of American history.
