The Dacie’s Community is mindful, respectful, and generous. Dacie’s is open to everyone—please help care for this shared space as if it were your own.

Respect the House

  • You are a guest in someone’s home. Please treat it as such.
  • Leave the space cleaner than you found it. You are a steward of the Dacie’s Community.
  • Take off your shoes when entering the house to help keep shared spaces clean.
  • Return common areas (kitchen, porch, living room, piano area, etc.) to their original condition after use. Take personal belongings with you.

Kitchen Use & Cleanliness

  • The kitchen is open from 8:00 AM to midnight. Out of respect for residents who live in the house, quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
  • Clean up after yourself: wash, dry, and put away dishes and cookware; wipe countertops; sweep if needed; and take out trash/compost/recycling when needed (bins are located directly across south-facing door).
  • Share the space—being mindful of space helps maintain a welcoming environment for everyone. Please keep personal items (such as laptops or bags) in the provided alcove between the living room and kitchen.
  • Label any food or containers left in the fridge with your name, the date, and allergens. The fridge is cleaned out every Wednesday.
  • Do not take food made with Dacie’s ingredients with you—ingredients are for use at Dacie’s only.

Baking Supplies

  • Baking ingredients (in cabinets) and perishables (butter, eggs, milk) in the fridge are for baking in-house only. Anything made using these provided ingredients should be enjoyed at the house.
  • If you use up ingredients or materials (like spice jars, egg carton or flour containers), do not throw them away—they are refilled. Instead, notify a staff member.
  • Label anything you leave in the fridge or freezer clearly with your name, date, and allergens.

Sustainability

  • Be mindful of our shared resources and communal food, ensuring fair portions and minimizing unnecessary waste.
  • We compost! Please refer to the labels on the trash, compost, and recycling bins. To prevent contamination, it is essential that all recyclables are thoroughly washed and free of food residue before disposal. Maintaining clean and correctly used bins is a key part of our shared stewardship.
  • Choose reusable items over single-use.
  • Wash and place clean glass jars in the designated bin for reuse (not recycling).

Community Stewardship

  • Everyone is welcome at Dacie’s. If you see someone new, introduce yourself, say hello and help them learn the guidelines and feel welcome in our home.
  • Take initiative: if something needs care (a full trash bin, a dirty counter, someone needing a hand), step up! This is your Community too.
  • Be mindful of noise and respectful of others using the space—especially during quiet hours (10pm–8am).
  • When in doubt, ask a staff member!

Let’s keep Dacie’s a welcoming, joyful, and respectful home for all. We each play a role in caring for this space and for one another.

Thank you for being part of this community.
